Nintendo 1990 Puzzle NES 1 Player | 2 Player VS
Dr. Mario
It's Dr. Mario for an intense new challenge! Mario throws multi-colored vitamin capsules into a bottle that contains an ugly variety of nasty viruses. You can move, shift or spin the capsules as they fall.
Arrange them to align with other capsules on top of the viruses. If you can get 4 or more of the same color in a row, POOF! They disappear! Destroy all of the viruses in the bottle and you progress to the next round where things get even more difficult.
The viruses are spreading rapidly and only Dr. Mario's vitamins can get them under control. Match 4 of the same color in either direction to remove them. If the bottle is filled to the top, it's game over.
The speed increases slightly for every 10 capsules thrown into the jar. There are no points awarded for clearing the vitamins, so you will want to stay focused on the viruses.
By properly stacking the vitamin capsules in advance, you can trigger an avalanche of cleared lines when they all fall down. Your scored points double for every cleared line you add to the combo, up to a max of 6, so this is your ticket to getting a high score in Dr. Mario.
You can rotate the vitamin capsules clockwise with [A] or counter-clockwise with [B]. If you are fast enough, you can maneuver them down into difficult to reach positions.
Always think about what will happen when the attached pieces fall from cleared lines — don't accidentally bury the viruses beneath in capsule fragments.
In 2 player mode, both players are competing to be the first to clear their bottle of viruses. If you remove more than 2 lines at once, some of those pieces will be sent to your opponent, up to a maximum of 4.
