Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Dr. Robotnik is at it again! With his latest scheme to build the Death Egg in order to take over the world, he is capturing Sonic's friends and turning them into evil robots to aid in its construction. Sonic doesn't have to go it along this time. With the help of Miles "Tails", you set out to stop Dr. Robotnik once again in more action packed zones than ever before.

Sonic is as fast as ever and can use that speed to take multiple paths to the end of the zone. Running too fast will make it more difficult to avoid the dangers ahead so keep on your toes!

There are more zones than ever before on the way to face Dr. Robotnik:

A second player can also control Tails during the single player game to help Sonic defeat enemies. Two player mode allows you to race a friend controlling Tails through one of four stages with a split-screen.

Dr. Robotnik will still hassle you as you complete an area with one of his evil inventions. Use Sonic's spinning jump to take care of him and free the captured animals as he flees.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic 2 is everything a sequel should be. It takes what was good in Sonic 1 and improved on it while adding new features that further improve the experience. The biggest addition is the option to have a second player join in as Tails to help the first player through the level though the camera is still centered on Sonic. Further still, a 2 player mode allows 2 players to race to the end of a stage with a split screen to see who can get to the goal first. The levels are built more with Sonic's speed in mind, allowing plenty of opportunity to blow right through them especially early on. The spin dash was also added to help sonic build up a burst of speed in place rather than having to run back to build up momentum like in Sonic 1.

The levels are much more expansive than before and many allow multiple routes to the end. Robotnik has an even greater variety of mechanical contraptions to overcome. The ring system from Sonic 1 is still in place, allowing you to survive if you get hit as long as you have at least 1 ring. If you are looking to check out one of the classic Sonic games, this is a great place to start.
