Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Zelda 2 is a bit different from the original Zelda in that it does away with the overhead view except when traveling in the overworld. You are able to travel between areas on the overworld such as towns, caves, palaces and even secret hidden areas. Leaving the safety of the road will run the risk of coming into contact with the dangerous enemies that roam the land of Hyrule. When you come into contact with enemies on the overworld or enter an area like caves or palaces, you will play in a side view mode. Link is able to attack and block low or high and can even learn special attacks to be used while jumping.

By defeating enemies or finding rare point bags, you will gain experience points. When you have enough experience, you can increase your attack, health or magic by one level. Losing all of your lives will result in the loss of all of your current experience but you will keep all of your levels. Magic plays a much larger role this time giving you many useful abilities such as the shield to aid in your quest. Though it focuses a bit more on action than other Zelda titles, it still centers on exploring a large world and surviving the perils found within.
